Driver Training

MIDAS basic training is completely free for community group drivers, wishing to hire one of our Mini-buses.  However, there are now new laws governing Mini-bus drivers, meaning that many volunteers many not be qualified to drive.  Call MCT to check if you or you’re driver is qualified, as this can affect your insurance cover. Call 0870 3899 554

As service providers to the local community, we are fundamentally aware of the need for safety, regulation, and codes of practice & conduct, when transporting members of the public.  We offer a range of Training Services designed to meet the needs of Volunteer Drivers, Paid Drivers, Supervisors and Carers, which provide candidates the key skills necessary for transporting passengers.

MCT employs full-time trainers.  Our trainers are fully qualified and are available for in-house or off-site training sessions.

In addition to Basic MIDAS we offer a full range of driving courses including:

  • Advanced MIDAS TRAINING
  • Emergency Procedures
  • PATS Assistant Training
  • D1PCV Training
  • MPV Training

Course Fees

MCT operates a price match policy; if you find the same training course cheaper, we’ll match it!  As we are a non-profit making organisation, all of our courses are offered at specially discounted rates.  Please click here for our Course Fees sheet for more details. Unfunded groups can also offset part of their training costs against future hire costs with MCT.*

*  Valid for up to six months of receiving MIDAS certification.

Criminal Record Checks

MCT are service providers to the local community and we are fully aware of the requirement for CRB checks when transporting children, young people and adults with special needs.  We can assist you in CRB checks for your volunteer staff, should you require this.
